14After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15“The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”- Mark 1:14-15 (NIV)
Jesus started His earthly ministry after He had endured the temptation of Satan in the wilderness and after John the baptist had been imprisoned. No, Jesus didn’t recruit folks and round up the angelic forces to rescue His older cousin John. No, Jesus did not use all of His Almighty power to thwart Satan’s schemes in the desert, just the Word of God(Luke 4:4, 8, 12). What did Jesus do? Jesus started out with a ministry based on change and belief. Change? Belief? Yes! John offered baptism of repentance, but Jesus called for repentance, seeking men and women to change both their hearts and lives. Jesus called for more than simply baptism as a sign of change. He called for an outward change as a result of an inward change. Also, He called for people to believe the Good News. He wanted people to accept what had previously been an expectation. Look at what Jesus did. He started a message-based ministry in Galilee that called people to act and caused a stir like never before in history.
