Join the Yahoo! Contributor Network

I say write your heart out at every shot that you get.  If you get rejected, so be it.  Make the most of your writing opportunities.  You can do so with a traditional publisher or you can go the route of self-publishing your own work.  I go so far as to post my poetry online.  I even try my hand at some popular blogging strategies that may or may not seem so profitable.

D. L. Moody: The Greatest Evangelist of the Nineteenth Century
“If we are all Christians, we shall all be missionaries.”- D.L. Moody

Missionaries are on a mission.  They go out and about, spreading the gospel and good works.  Some teach English in foreign lands while teaching the Bible.  Others conduct special projects through urban ministry.  Missionaries do the will of God by doing the works that God called them to do among those who believe and others who are in unbelief.  They serve the Lord by serving people.

Fox's Book of MartyrsOr A History of the Lives, Sufferings, and TriumphantDeaths of the Primitive Protestant Martyrs
“Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” – Romans 12:14 (NKJV)

The words of Paul to the believers in Rome seem odd in retrospect.  Coming from a man who had once persecuted the early church, these words seem to carry a peculiar connotation.

“Bless those who persecute you. . .”

The Sermon on the Mount: The Key to Success in LifeIt rings with some familiarity.  It almost echoes the words of Jesus Christ when He said: “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. . .” He spoke of a new twist on an Old Testament way of thinking.  The words of Paul in Romans share striking similarities to those of Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount.

What the Holy Spirit Does in a Believer's Life (Christian Living/Classics) (Believer's Life Series)Beyond the natural inclination to strike back, the Christian is to be filled with the Holy SpiritThe spirit is to reign and rule in the life of the believer so much that the believer lives by the Spirit.  The believer is to submit to the Spirit working in his or her life.  By doing so, the believer submits to the will of God in his or her life.

Jesus Freaks: Martyrs: Stories of Those Who Stood for Jesus: The Ultimate Jesus FreaksStrength to LoveOppressive forces keep many in poverty and under persecution. The contemporary Christian band dc Talk wrote Jesus Freaks that shared stories of Christian martyrs and political prisoners throughout the world over the years since the early church was established.  Amazingly, the common threads throughout these stories are the faith and ability of Christians to love their enemies while still living under persecution.

What should we learn to do as Christians? Turn the other cheek? Seek an eye for an eye? Bless others.  Bless them by our words.  Bless them by the way we conduct ourselves.  Seek to live at peace with all men.

Conversion on the Road to Damascus Giclee Poster Print by Gustave Doré, 30x40Bless them despite being belittled and bewildered.  Bless them and go beyond payback.  Bless them that they may come to know Christ.  After all, isn’t that what happened with Paul? Isn’t that why he, of all of the people one could imagine, could say such things after having zealously persecuted the church and being pursued by the Jewish rulers?

1 Corinthians“Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.” – 1 Corinthians 5:7 Little Star Of BethlehemProphecy [VHS]

The message of the Messiah comes from Old Testament propheciesThe biblical books of Joel and Micah contain messianic propheciesPsalm 22 is a messianic psalm.  The prophecies of the Old Testament are fulfilled through the promised deliverer born in Bethlehem, the city of David.

Isaiah is probably the one prophet who offers insights into the coming of the Messiah that most Jews clung to during the days of Jesus Christ.  He wrote of the tribes of Israel turning from God as Man of Sorrows: God, Salvation, and the Book of Isaiahharlots of idolatry.  His chapter on the suffering Savior depicts the man of sorrows who was bruised for our iniquities.

Numerous books explain salvation for the unsaved to understand.  C.H. Spurgeon’s personal salvation story in My Conversion offers a great look at entering into Christ’s rest.   Max Lucado wrote He Chose Nails and 3:16.  Additionally, Andrrew Murray’s Absolute Surrender conveys the message well, too.

Kindle Bible - The Holy Bible Formatted for the Amazon KindleGenesis Record, The: A Scientific and Devotional Commentary on the Book of BeginningsSo Joseph died, being 110 years old. They embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.- Genesis 50:26 (NIV)

The last word in the book of Genesis is Egypt.  It seems appropriate that this book of the Bible would end in such a place.  Right after the death of Joseph, one of the final figures of the first book of the Old Testament, the book of Genesis ends right there in Egypt.

Joseph & His Brothers (Hanna Barbera the Greatest Adventure Stories From the Bible)The Life and Times of AkhnatonThink about Egypt’s history and how the coming of the Hebrews changed its social structure.  A famine throughout the world caused people to come from all parts of the world to Egypt.  God placed Joseph there through some extreme circumstances.  Yet, Joseph was placed in a position of power.  God used him to smooth things out when the shepherds from Canaan came to Egypt to buy grain.

Praying God's Word: Devotional JournalPromises to Keep: Daily Devotions for Men of IntegrityThe Christian may not see the blessing found in Egypt.  Jacob reunited with his son in Egypt. Joseph forgave his brothers and wept with them in Egypt.  Joseph and his kinsmen stayed in Goshen in Egypt.  Joseph had favor with Pharaoh and his people throughout the land of Egypt.  God had shown Joseph favor in Egypt.  Perhaps, as believers, we need to see where are the places that God has helped us to reunite with family and friends.  We need to rethink about how God allowed us to forgive othersThank God for giving us a place to stay.  Praise God for granting us favor

I believe we all have our own little “Egypt” when it comes to this walk of faith.  Thank God for leading you through this far to your Egypt.

I met a girl a couple of weeks ago. She gonna tell me, “If you want to get acquainted with me and my son, you’ll have to take him to Disneyland.”

I went to pick her up the next day and here she got four more kids. I said, “Who kids are them?”
She said, “Them Bebe’s Kids.”

Genesis Record, The: A Scientific and Devotional Commentary on the Book of Beginnings
15 When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “What if Joseph holds a grudge against us and pays us back for all the wrongs we did to him?” 16 So they sent word to Joseph, saying, “Your father left these instructions before he died: 17 ‘This is what you are to say to Joseph: I ask you to forgive your brothers the sins and the wrongs they committed in treating you so badly.’ Now please forgive the sins of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph wept. 18 His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. “We are your slaves,” they said. 19 But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. 21 So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.
– Genesis 50:15-21 (NIV)

Joseph and His BrothersPaybackJoseph’s brothers feared him.  In fact, they believed that Joseph would take revenge on them and seek payback for all that they had done to him.  They even discussed it and sent word to Joseph via messenger.

When their message came to him, Joseph wept. (v. 17, NIV).

Cruel IntentionsJoseph wept based upon their message.  He reassured them and spoke kindly to them, according to verse 21.  Joseph had said to them that he was in the place of God.  He stated that he did not seek to harm them, even though they had harmed him.  He shared that God used their evil intentions to accomplish His perfect will.

Just Like Jesus DevotionalJoseph showed mercy.  In fact, Joseph showed his brothers mercy on more than one occasion.  He said that he was in the place of God, in a position to either harm them or help them.  He chose to help them instead of seeking revenge upon them and exercising his authority as an Egyptian governmental official.
