And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.

I have always been impressed with the Gospel of John’s opening words.  It seems to reach a peak when John speaks of the Word becoming flesh.  In other words, Jesus takes on human form for the sake of salvation and redemption.

Incarnated godliness in human form.  Total holiness coexisting with total humanity.  All in the same place and at the same time is wrapped up in the same oneness.

I marvel at such a majestic maneuver on the Lord’s part.  Since He is the Almighty, we know He could have spoke and it would have been done.  Since He is the Creator, He could have created a new breed and done away with sinful man just to start over again.

No but He decided to go out of His way for us.  He decided to become like us so that we might have eternal life and life out this earthly life like Him.  He became flesh.  He took on the form of a man.

He became flesh for us and our sakes, our salvation.

Read John 1:1-17.

There are certain people who seem to be alive but they truly have a dark existence.  They breathe.  They speak and hear.  They have all od their senses.  Yet, they live in darkness.

The church calls them lost souls.  The Bible calls them children of darkness.  The Lord Himself considered them of this world.

So what do we do about people who live in darkness?

Let your light shine (Matthew 5:16).  Let it shine before men so that our good works can speak volumes to them and that they may come into the glorious light of our Lord and Savior.

Share Christ by showing someone the love of Christ just as someone else most probably shared with you.

No Longer Normal

We are not the same.  We are no Longer simply normal, everyday folks.  That is not us any longer.

God has done something different with us.

We are now heirs of God, considered sons and daughters of the Moat High God.  No Longer are we standing afar off, separated by sin’s curse, for Jesus has been sacrificed for our sakes.  Grace has covered us and blessed us with redemption.

And we live with His Spirit dwelling within us.

Someone asked were there still wonders, signs and miracles today.  Yes there are millions of them.  Look at the drunks who are now deacons, the pushers who are now pastors and the hoochies who are now holy.  We are walking and breathing miracles that speak volumes about the love of Christ.

We are not normal.  He lives within us.  His power is displayed through us. Amen.

Never Changing

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Hebrews 13:8 KJV

Trust and believe that the Lord is faithful and not fickle.  He is the same.  He doesn’t change with conditions or situations.  He never changes.

He has changed His approach to us in the past.  He once came upon people with His Spirit but now His Spirit dwells within the believer.  He once used signs and wonders.  Now He uses other methods but still has all power.

He never changes. Be assured of that.  You can depend on that. You can believe that.

At the same time spake the Lord by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot. Isaiah 20:2 KJV

Prophets have oftentimes been referred as men gone mad with a message from God. Messengers of God have also had to use some extreme methods to grab the audience’s attention.

Ezekiel laid on his side for an extended period of time.  Elisha told a leper to wash in a river to be cleansed.  Elijah called down fire from heaven.  Jeremiah walked about while bound in stocks like a prisoner to demonstrate the suffering that would come upon the people once in captivity.

These and others used extreme methods to the attention of the people.

But Isaiah went to an extreme for God.  Folks just were not getting the message so the messenger turned up the heat and changed up his methods.  He went barefoot.  He got naked.  If they would not hear him, they sure could not help but to see him in his natural state.

What extreme will you go to so the message reaches home?

Get naked?

Go wherever God sends you?

Confront others for misleading the innocent and misrepresenting God?

What extreme method will you incorporate so that people can’t help but to see God at work?

God doesn’t need to perform miracles.  He just needs some willing servants who will go to the extreme if need be so that other folks get it.

Will that be you?
