What Would We Do

Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another. . . -Hebrews 10:25 (NIV)

What if the governmental powers that be simply decided that it is unlawful to hold worship services in the name of Jesus in the United States? What would we do? Would we continue to meet despite what the law of the land states? Or, would we find some scraps and pieces of Scripture to meld together and out of context in order to say that we are rendering unto Ceasar what his and simply obeying the laws as good citizens? What would we do?

Would we go underground and create guerilla campaigns to distribute the gospel message “by any means necessary?” Would we find a way to be like the Way and influence those around us in spirte of what the leadership and laws said about us? Would we see those who are truly convicted stay and stick to it, while those who were simply convenient Christians hid the Word in their hearts? What would we do? I wonder. . .

The issue is that we have freedom of religion.  We can expres ourselves in alignment with our faith.  We do not have to blow up abortion clinics and lead protests in front of Planned Parenthood to send ourt our message or to draw people in.  We can assemble together, encourage and empower one another through the sharing of His Word, rather than rant and rave about what others are not doing in His name.  Forget what the world is doing! We need to be about the kingdom business and the kingdom’s work.  Let us come together as the body of Christ, assembling together to His glory.  Let us continue the fellowship to foster more new births among us.  Let us allow our lights to shine among men, so that they will witness our light and give glory to the Father (Matthew 5:16).  Let’s be about being the people of God as God has called us to be in this life.
