From House to House

46 And day by day, continuing stedfastly with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread at home, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart,47 praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to them day by day those that were saved.-Acts 2:46-47

The early church provides us with a model for “house” ministries.  We may want to call them small groups. We may want to call them “home fellowships,” cell churches or house churches, but they all pretty much function based upon the same principle and similar passages of the Bible.  Acts shows us that there were churches set up in homes of believers just as Philemon and 1 Corinthians show us the same thing.
