Inside Out

So Barnabas and Saul were sent out by the Holy Spirit. They went down to the seaport of Seleucia and then sailed for the island of Cyprus.- Acts 13:4, NLT

We, as the local body of believers in Jesus Christ, are called to grow the universal church and grow the people who join the church within our midst.  Inside the church, we have work that leads us to the works that we are to do outside of the church.  After coming to know Jesus, we are to lead lives that reflect Jesus.  Yet, we are not intended to live such lives in a vaccuum.  We are to live our lives from the “inside out”.

Believers are called to be both salt and light in this world.   We are to influence the world around us by how we interact with the world.  It remains only theological theory if we never put it into practice, though.  What we need is to not simply do, but we need to be.  We need to be the church by becoming salt and light to the world.

Inside-Out Practices:

  • Inside:
    • Disciple
    • Develop
  • Outside:
    • Disseminate
    • Demonstrate

What we do on the inside (church) impacts how we do on the outside (community).  I will spend this next week posting on the details of how we disciple, develop, disseminate and demonstrate inside out.
